The Econ 3.5mil bags have become my solution for our freeze dried meals and snacks intended to be used over the course of a year or so. We do quite a bit of traveling that doesn't always accommodate our dietary needs / desires... and let's face it, our finances too... eating out is so expensive now. These 10 x 14 bags are great as is, or cutting them into smaller bags (again, for short-term storage purposes). I typically fold them in half and crease them, seal what would be the bottom of the upper half of the bag, then use a slide cutter to cut along the crease. BOOM! Two bags for the already low price of one. Depending on what I am sealing up, I can sub-divide these two halves further into two or three more bags each. Mostly just two bags each half, but I also pack my own drink mixes for travel so getting 6 total bags out of one of these provides packaging for mere pennies. Definitely seal whatever edges you can prior to cutting. I've tried just cutting everything up first and it is a hassle trying to get the edges to lay flat for sealing. But once I figured it out, I make quick work of it. Because of the usefulness of these bags, and how cost effective they are, this is the bag I order the most because it has become much more economical to make a LOT more short-term food options. I rely on their 7mil bags for my long-term storage. I purchase a wide variety of bags and OAs (slow-acting) for both family food storage, personal meals and stacks for our travels, and packaging for my freeze dried candies and snacks business. This bag is shinier than the 7 mil bags so if that’s a concern be advised. I recommend that these bags be stored in a box after filling and dealing with items. Soft sided items only! Any pokey edged item will tear the bag if roughly handled! Other than that I love the price and the quality for this weight bag is excellent. I purchased this bag due to my normal heavy weight bag not being in stock. But pleased with the resulted filled bag.
