Product Overview
One Heavy-Duty Mylar Bag—Six Practical Sizes
Choose the capacity that fits your food instead of forcing every portion into the same bag. Every option includes 50 ShieldPro gusseted zip-seal Mylar® bags made with the same heavy-duty, 7 mil-per-side construction.
Use the smaller sizes for individual portions, samples and ingredients; the middle sizes for meals and pantry staples; or the larger sizes for bulk foods and freeze-dried products.

Why Choose ShieldPro 7 Mil Bags?
- True 7 mil thickness per side: Heavy-duty construction provides greater resistance to punctures from pasta, dehydrated foods and other sharp-edged products.
- Built with genuine BoPET Mylar® film: The film construction matters just as much as the thickness. These bags combine high-strength polyester film with a barrier layer and food-safe inner sealant.
- Six sizes without six different bag styles: Choose the capacity you need while keeping the same construction, zipper and sealing method.
- Stand-up gusset: The expandable bottom makes the bags easier to hold open, fill, display and organize.
- Zip now, heat-seal for storage: The zipper helps during filling and after opening. For long-term storage, heat-seal across the entire header above the zipper.
- Light, oxygen and moisture barrier: The opaque multi-layer construction protects properly dried foods from the major environmental causes of food deterioration.
Tested Strength—Not Just a Thickness Claim
Thickness alone does not determine how a bag performs. Film quality, laminate construction and seal strength all matter.
In independent comparison testing commissioned by ShieldPro, our tested 7 mil bags demonstrated approximately 30% greater puncture resistance than the tested 7 and 7.5 mil bags from Top Mylar, Harvest Right and Wallaby. ShieldPro also substantially exceeded the tested PackFresh, Wallaby and Harvest Right samples in tensile and burst-strength testing.
How to Seal for Long-Term Food Storage
- Fill the bag with properly dried, low-moisture food, leaving enough empty header space for sealing.
- Add the appropriate oxygen absorber when the food is suitable for oxygen-free storage.
- Press the zipper closed to organize the bag and remove excess air.
- Use an impulse sealer, flat iron or hair straightener to create a continuous heat seal across the full width above the zipper.
- Label the contents and packing date, then store the sealed bag in a cool, dry location protected from damage.
Important Oxygen-Absorber Guidance
Oxygen absorbers are sold separately. Use them only with properly dried, low-moisture foods that are appropriate for oxygen-free storage. Do not use oxygen absorbers with moist or high-moisture foods. Sugar and salt should be packaged without an oxygen absorber because they can harden into a solid mass.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are oxygen absorbers included?
No. This listing includes 50 Mylar® bags in the selected size. Oxygen absorbers and labels are available separately.
Is the zipper enough for long-term storage?
No. The zipper is convenient for filling, temporary closure and access after opening. For long-term storage, always heat-seal the full width of the bag above the zipper.
Why does the price increase more on the two largest sizes?
The larger bags use substantially more film and require larger shipping cartons. An 8" × 12" bag has approximately 37% more face area than a 7" × 10" bag, while a 10" × 16" bag is approximately 67% larger than an 8" × 12" bag. Every size option still contains 50 bags.
Which size should I choose?
Choose based on the portion you expect to use after opening. Smaller packages reduce repeated exposure of the remaining food to air and moisture, while larger bags are more efficient for bulk ingredients and family-size storage.
Can the bags be reused?
They may be reused when they remain clean, undamaged and have enough header material left to make another complete heat seal. Always inspect the zipper, laminate and previous seal area before reuse.
