Low price does not mean low capacity.
FreshUS is an established commercial oxygen-absorber manufacturer, and independent testing has shown its absorbers substantially exceeding their labeled capacity. (300cc oxygen absorbers tested at 890cc actual; drop us a note for the video and testing mechanism)
We still recommend every absorber according to its rated capacity. Any capacity beyond the rating should be considered reserve—not something you need to depend upon.
The Packaging Matters as Much as the Price
One of the biggest problems with buying absorbers in bulk is exposure after the package is opened.
That is why we like the FreshUS factory packaging.
Our most popular case sizes are divided into small sealed inner packs, allowing you to open only what you can use during a packaging session.
For example:
300cc case = 1,000 absorbers packed as 100 sealed packs of 10
Instead of opening 50, 100 or hundreds of absorbers at once, you can open ten, use them, and leave the rest protected.
For a freeze-dry business, food producer or commercial packager, that can mean less waste and a much easier production workflow.

The correct absorber size depends on how much air remains inside the finished package—not simply the nominal size of the bag.

Independent Performance Testing
We believe oxygen absorbers should be judged by what they actually absorb—not by the price printed on the package.
Independent tester Phil @ 4800 evaluated FreshUS and other major oxygen-absorber brands using a volumetric oxygen-capacity test.
FreshUS samples substantially exceeded their labeled capacity.
We are currently organizing the original testing, measurements and video documentation so customers can examine the results themselves.
We don't ask you to rely on excess test capacity when sizing your packages.
A FreshUS 300cc absorber should be selected as a 300cc absorber.
The excess capacity is valuable because it provides evidence of manufacturing reserve above the advertised rating.
300cc or 500cc for a 1-Gallon Bag?
This depends on the food.
Choose 300cc for densely packed foods:
- Rice
- Beans
- Wheat
- Dense grains
- Flour and similar compact dry products
Choose 500cc for high-headspace foods:
- Freeze-dried foods
- Pasta
- Oats
- Bulky snacks
- Loosely packed products
A one-gallon bag filled tightly with rice contains far less trapped air than the same bag filled with freeze-dried strawberries.
If you don't know what your customer will be packaging, 500cc is the conservative choice.
Handling FreshUS Absorbers in Production
FreshUS absorbers begin reacting once exposed to air.
For best results:
- Prepare your bags and product before opening the absorber pack.
- Open only as many inner packs as you expect to use.
- Place absorbers into the packages and heat seal promptly.
- Reseal unused absorbers immediately in a high-barrier pouch or airtight glass container.
- Keep unopened inventory in a cool, dry location until needed.
You do not need to panic—but don't leave open absorbers sitting around unnecessarily.
What Foods Are Appropriate?
Oxygen absorbers are designed for properly dry, shelf-stable products such as:
- Rice
- Beans
- Grains
- Flour
- Pasta
- Oats
- Freeze-dried foods
- Dehydrated foods
- Powdered ingredients
- Dry mixes
- Herbs and spices
- Pet foods and treats
- Seeds
- Other properly dried packaged products
Sugar and salt generally do not need oxygen absorbers.
Oxygen absorbers are not a substitute for proper processing, refrigeration, freezing or canning of moist/perishable foods.
