Product Overview

If you have ever struggled with oxygen absorbers getting hot, losing their strength too quickly, or causing condensation inside your Mylar bags, these specially designed Oxyfree Slow-Acting Absorbers are the ultimate solution.

Unlike standard, fast-acting absorbers that force you to rush and seal your food in a stressful 10 to 15-minute window, our slow-acting formula works continuously over several days. This gradual absorption produces minimal heat, completely eliminating the temperature swings that cause harmful condensation.

Why Choose Oxyfree Slow-Acting Absorbers?

  • Up to a 90-Minute Working Window: No more rushing! You have plenty of time to comfortably fill, arrange, and heat-seal your bags without losing actual capacity.

  • No Condensation: Slow, continuous activation prevents the temperature spikes that create moisture inside sealed environments.

  • Independently Tested Superiority: Our Oxyfree absorbers rated 35% to 45% better than major competitors like Harvest Right and Packfresh.

  • Massive Excess Capacity: Our absorbers vastly exceed their rated capacities (for example, our 300cc absorbers rated at a whopping 1106cc of actual absorption in testing!).

  • FDA Approved & Safe: Non-toxic, food-safe, and emits absolutely no harmful gases or by-products.

Sizing & Pack Configurations

Use the dropdown menus above to select your absorber strength and pack quantity. Refer to the table below to match the perfect absorber size to your food storage setup:

Absorber Size Ideal Mylar Bag Size Perfect For...
100cc Half-Pint to Quart Bags Spices, baking powder, small dried goods
300cc 1-Quart to 1-Gallon Bags Dehydrated meals, dry beans, white rice, oats
500cc 1-Gallon to 2-Gallon Bags Large pasta packs, freeze-dried fruits, flour
2000cc 5-Gallon Bags Bulk grain buckets, long-term storage emergency prep

Remember the MOLT Acronym: The four enemies of long-term food storage are Moisture, Oxygen, Light, and Temperature. Pairing our premium Mylar bags with Oxyfree Slow-Acting Absorbers is your absolute best defense against all of them!

Tips for Best Use

  • Keep them sealed: Unused absorbers must be kept in an airtight environment. If you don't use the whole pack, quickly heat-seal the bag they came in or store the leftovers in a clean, tightly sealed glass mason jar.

  • Expect a slow vacuum effect: Because these are slow-acting, you won't see your bags "pull tight" immediately. They will work steadily over 24 to 72 hours to pull the oxygen level down below 0.1%.

(Note: Oxygen absorbers only absorb the 21% of our atmosphere that is oxygen. The remaining 79% is nitrogen, which is not absorbed. Therefore, your Mylar bag will lose volume but will not look completely vacuum-shrunk like plastic wrap—this is perfectly normal and means the absorber has done its job!)

Here are the main benefits of using our oxygen absorbers:

  • Lowers oxygen Levels inside your sealed Mylar bag to less than 0.1; in contrast, vacuum sealing only reduces oxygen to around 2%.
  • Keeps the freshness and original taste, smell, and color of your stored food items
  • Prevents your food from becoming stale, rancid, or spoiled
  • Prevents the growth of mold, mildew, bacteria, aerobic pathogens, spoilage organisms, and anaerobic microorganisms.
  • Dramatically extends your stored items' shelf life
  • Emits no harmful gases or bi-products
  • Are FDA approved for direct contact with food and related products
  • Eliminates the need for unhealthy preservatives such as sorbates, benzoates, BHA, BHT, PFAS, sulfur dioxides, and more.
  • Works well with vacuum packaging or gas flushing to even further absorb any already oxygen sealed inside or that may eventually permeate the package
  • Helps keep the nutritional qualities of polyunsaturated oils and fats
  • Prevents the oxidation of your food's A, C, and E Vitamins
  • Works well with dry or semi-moist foods
  • Great for grains, legumes, beans, nuts, seeds, dried meats, jerky, milk powder, baking mixes, flours, sugar, salt, spices, seasonings, herbs, coffee, tea, candies, confectionaries, snacks, breads, cakes, cookies, pastries, pasta, pharmaceuticals, vitamins, supplements, bird seed, pet foods, and more
  • Great for storage of tools, artwork, medical diagnostic kits and devices, etc.
  • VERY Safe, Non-Toxic & SUPER EASY TO USE

This Slow-Burn OAs Make Packaging Less Stressful

Posted by Phoenix Freeze Dried on 2nd Jun 2025

Note: I use both the 100cc and 300cc of these Slow-Acting OAs. The most stressful part of my freeze drying efforts is when it's time to package the food. I have everything prepped and ready in a perfectly organized assembly line for one person and several work stations. With standard OAs, the second I pull the food from the machine, I was running like a crazy person. Because the slow-acting OAs provide a window of time, not that I lolly-gag around now, but I can work stead vs a mad rush, spilling things along the way. Since they burn more slowly, it also reduces the chance of post-seal condensation that can ruin the food. And as always with Discount Mylar Bags, the bonus is that the prices are great and the service is awesome. I purchase a wide variety of bags and OAs (slow-acting) for both family food storage, personal meals and stacks for our travels, and packaging for my freeze dried candies and snacks business. Discount Mylar Bags is my go-to supplier.
