Buy ShieldPro 1-gallon-class Mylar® bags by the 500-count case for high-volume packing and commercial projects. Every style uses durable 5 mil per side construction, while four available configurations let you match the package to the contents, filling process, and customer experience you need.
- 500 bags per case: Built for volume purchasing without mixing retail pack quantities into the listing.
- Four case configurations: Select one size and style for the full case.
- Clear thickness convention: Every option is 5 mil per side.
- Heat-sealable construction: Suitable for batch packing with an impulse sealer or other appropriate heat-sealing equipment.
Select Your 500-Count Case
| Case style | Capacity | Recommended use |
|---|---|---|
| 500 - 10" × 14" open top | Exactly 1 gallon | Efficient batch packing of rice, beans, lentils, oats, and similar dry foods |
| 500 - 10" × 16" open top | Approximately 1.125 gallons | Extra working room for faster filling and sealing of bulkier products |
| 500 - 10" × 16" × 4" gusseted ziplock | Approximately 1.25 gallons | Stand-up filling, freeze-dried products, snacks, and resealable retail packages |
| 500 - 10" × 16" tamper-evident ziplock | Approximately 1 gallon | Customer-facing food packages requiring visible tamper evidence and a zipper after opening |
Tamper-evident configuration: The bag is pre-sealed at the top above the zipper and left open at the bottom for filling. After the product is added, heat seal the bottom. The end customer must open the top seal before accessing the zipper.
Oxygen Absorber Planning for Volume Projects
Official DMB recommendation: Plan on one 500cc ShieldPro oxygen absorber per properly filled 1-gallon bag of suitable low-moisture dry food. For production runs using the 1.125- or 1.25-gallon styles, or for products that leave substantial internal airspace, increase absorber capacity to account for the additional air volume.
Because oxygen absorbers begin working as soon as they are exposed to air, organize the filling and sealing workflow before opening the absorber package. Work in manageable batches and promptly reseal unused absorbers in an airtight container.
Important: Do not use oxygen absorbers with moist or high-moisture foods. Oxygen absorbers are unnecessary for sugar and salt and may cause hardening or clumping. The purchaser is responsible for determining the appropriate package, absorber capacity, process, and storage method for the specific product being packed.
Production and Sealing Guidance
- Confirm that the selected bag style, capacity, and closure match the product and filling process.
- Keep the seal area clean and leave sufficient material above the contents for a complete heat seal.
- Add the correctly sized oxygen absorber shortly before sealing.
- Heat seal across the full width of every bag. Ziplock styles must also be heat sealed for long-term storage.
- Inspect seals at regular intervals during the production run and retain representative samples for your own quality checks.
- Label finished packages and store them in a cool, dry location. Add a rigid outer container when the project requires protection from rodents, crushing, or rough handling.
Wholesale Frequently Asked Questions
How many bags are included?
This wholesale listing contains 500 bags in the style selected above.
Can different styles be mixed in one case?
Each product option represents a 500-count case of one selected style. Order separate cases when you need more than one style.
Is the stated thickness per side or total?
It is 5 mil per side.
Do ziplock styles still require heat sealing?
Yes. The zipper is useful after opening, but it does not replace the final heat seal required for long-term storage.
Which option provides visible tamper evidence?
Select the 10" × 16" tamper-evident ziplock case. These bags are filled from the open bottom and then heat sealed after packing.
Should we test the bags with our product before a full production run?
Yes. Test the selected construction, filling process, absorber capacity, seal settings, handling conditions, and storage method with the specific product before committing to a production process.
